What does BrowseAloud do?

BrowseAloud makes web content more accessible to anyone with difficulties reading, because it has the following features:

  • speaks website content aloud (including menus, hyperlinks and pdf documents),
  • highlights each word as it is spoken, showing you where you are on the page
  • makes text larger
  • provides a screen mask
  • highlights text for easier reading
  • simplifies the page to show the most important text
  • talking translator to change text from English to Welsh and many other languages

How do I use BrowseAloud?

To open BrowseAloud in future please click the speaker button at the top of the page. BrowseAloud features and options are accessed from an easy-to-use toolbar. You can position this toolbar anywhere on your screen or hide it from view, if you prefer. To close BrowseAloud please re-click the speaker button.

Who does BrowseAloud help?

BrowseAloud can help any visitor who requires online reading support. This may include people with:

  • learning difficulties such as dyslexia
  • visual impairments
