Welcome to the latest issue of Vacancy and News Update. Our monthly publication keeps you up to date with our vacancies for people with Learning Disabilities, Mental Health needs or Acquired Brain Injuries, as well the latest news from Regard.
In this edition, we provide details of vacancies that are available in 14 of our services in the South.

Vacancies
Cecil Court, Cranborne, Dorset
Details: We have one vacancy in this new supported living service located in the beautiful village of Cranborne, Dorset. Cecil Court provides 24/7 care and support for eight people, according to their individual needs.
The service, which was originally sheltered housing for older people, has been created by working with the East Boro Housing Trust. Each of the studio flats has its own bathroom and kitchen.
In addition to the individual flats, there is a separate office and communal area, with staff on site 24/7. |

The Granary, Berkeley House, Lynsted, Kent
Details: We have one vacancy in this Grade II listed building, which offers support to individuals with Learning Disabilities and challenging behaviour.

This longstanding senior management and staff team has a high rate of success in supporting people with complex needs to lead active, meaningful and fulfilled lives whilst, at the same time, reducing behaviours which may have once posed a challenge. This has been achieved through a consistent, positive and proactive approach from staff and continual review of behavioural support plans.
Berkeley House is located within ten minutes of the nearest town of Sittingbourne and is equipped with its own resource facilities which include a sensory room, computers, arts/crafts, training kitchen for independent living, mini allotment, smallholding of chickens and beautiful gardens. |
Gordon Avenue, Camberley, Surrey
Details: Gordon Avenue is a brand new service within the heart of Camberley, providing a unique model of supported living. It is a younger person’s transition service, ideal for individuals leaving residential college, foster care or the family home.
The service can accommodate five younger adults with Learning Disabilities and Autism, as well as emotional and/or Mental Health needs. Our specially recruited staff offer flexible and structured support to meet the daily requirements of individual tenants.
The home is located a short distance from Camberley town centre, and all tenants are encouraged to make the most of the vocational and educational opportunities available.

Greenacres, East Sussex
Details: We have one vacancy in this five-bed residential children’s home, which specialises in supporting children with Learning Disabilities, Autism and other associated challenging behaviours. Greenacres accommodates children aged 5-17 and all the children have been living within the home for some years now. All the staff are trained in Autism, and effective communication underpins our working ethos within this service. This unique vacancy has only arisen recently due to one child moving on to a residential school.

We encourage input from parents, Social Workers and all key members within each child’s circle of support. There is an active parents’ forum and we are working closely with some children to support them with transition planning.
The home is set within six acres of beautiful farmland and the children benefit from an outdoor play area, vegetable patch and paddock. Located close to Uckfield town centre, Greenacres has good transport links to resorts on the South Coast and London.

Harbour, Torquay, Devon
Details: Harbour provides specialist services for younger adults with Autistic Spectrum Conditions, behaviours that may challenge, Profound or Multiple Learning Disabilities (PMLD) and significant communication difficulties/complex needs.
Situated in a residential area of the beautiful town of Torquay, there is easy access to shops, leisure facilities, restaurants and the seafront, which is about a 10-minute walk away. The accommodation offers individuals their own living space and en-suite bathrooms, and some have their own kitchen areas too. There are also large communal living and kitchen areas, plus a large garden for leisure and recreational pursuits.
Care and support packages are on an individual basis, with staff working with individuals to enable them to live the life they choose. |

Hazelwood House, Isle of Wight
Details: We have one vacancy in this residential care service for an individual with mild to moderate Learning Disabilities. The detached house boasts gardens with lawns, shrubs and fruit trees, as well as a large driveway and wheelchair access.

The main bus routes to Newport and Ryde are close by, as well as the floating bridge to Cowes and the Red Funnel Ferry, which will take you to Southampton.
Community participation and involvement is actively encouraged through person-centred planning to meet individual goals and aspirations which keep Service Users safe and happy. Residents undertake leisure activities at the weekend and are given the option to visit social clubs or pubs in the evening, as well as a church of their choice. |
Highdowns, Camborne, Cornwall
Details: One vacancy is currently available in this service which provides residential support to adults with Learning Disabilities and Mental Health needs.
The service provides 24-hour support in a safe environment which encourages individuals to gain confidence and promotes decision-making through a person-centred approach.
Highdowns is comprised of four different properties within a small farm holding on ten acres of breathtaking Cornish countryside. There is a main house for seven people, a newly refurbished cottage for semi-independent living and a self-contained unit within a barn conversion, as well as a converted property specifically design to encourage its four residents to become more independent.

Latymer, Redhill, Surrey
Details: We have one vacancy in this supported living service based in a detached property in a quiet residential area of Redhill. The team provides flexible and individually tailored support to individuals with mild to moderate Learning Disabilities, physical disabilities and Mental Health needs.

The service specialises in supporting people who have lived in a residential setting previously and require support to make choices and decisions in their lives.
Latymer is within walking distance of the town centre and offers easy access to local transport. Each bedroom caters for single occupancy and Service Users can personalise their rooms. There are five bedrooms, a kitchen, lounge area and bathroom on the ground floor, with a further five bedrooms on the first floor plus a kitchen, lounge area and bathroom. Additionally, there is a private garden with a large patio area where regular events and barbeques are held. |
The Marshes, Hailsham, East Sussex
Details: We have vacancies in this purpose-built bungalow which provides 24-hour support to six adults with profound Learning Disabilities and physical disabilities, including wheelchair users. The property is situated on the outskirts of Hailsham, in the heart of the picturesque Sussex Downs.
Residents are supported to lead full and interesting lives within the community, centred around their individual needs, choices and aspirations. They are able to make use of all the local amenities, including shops, GPs, pharmacies and a leisure centre, on a daily basis and to access the tourist attractions in Brighton, Hastings and Eastbourne. |

Oak Lodge, Polegate, East Sussex
Details: We have one vacancy in this purpose-built bungalow for adults with Physical and Learning Disabilities.

The home is fitted with ceiling track hoists and specialist bathing/ personal care facilities. All staff are trained in Epilepsy, total communication, end-of-life care and Physical Disabilities. We work in close partnership with specialists and therapists from the local community Learning Disability team and ensure that healthcare facilitation is a priority.
Oak Lodge nestles at the base of the hills of the South Downs, and is close to the costal resort of Eastbourne. There are good travel links by train and bus to both the coast and London. We do have adapted vehicles for wheelchair access and all Service Users enjoy regular access to local colleges, shops, restaurants, pubs, historical attractions and places of interest. |
Orchard View, Strood, Kent
Details: We have vacancies in this residential service for young adults with Learning Disabilities and associated complex behavioural needs or Autism. Orchard View also provides support to young people with Smith Magenis Syndrome and Foetal Alcohol Syndrome (FAS).
The transition from residential college or the family home is an exciting, but sometimes stressful, time for the Service User and their family. Orchard View aims to provide a seamless transition by placing the individual at the centre of the transition process while facilitating partnership working with all key members of their circle of support.
Orchard View is a very active, vibrant service which offers support tailored to meet the individual needs of busy young people accessing colleges, employment and numerous social and recreational opportunities. We enable people to gain confidence and increased independence, taking all areas of their life into consideration. |

Rhyme House, Sittingbourne, Kent
Details: This brand new transition service is now open. It is specifically designed as a transition service for young people aged 18- 25 with Learning Disabilities, Autism and/or challenging behaviour. We have an experienced Service Manager who has worked for Regard for many years and is well versed in setting up new service provisions. The staff will be trained in Autism, challenging behaviour and total communication. Support will be structured to meet individual needs, with the provision of sleep-in and waking night support.

Our Service User-specific independent living skills assessment tool, which is in pictorial format, will provide young people with the foundation they require to gain new skills and reap the rewards of their individual achievements. There will also be a strong focus on healthcare planning and facilitation.
All rooms within the home are decorated to a high standard and each room on the ground floor has its own kitchenette and en-suite bathroom. A large communal lounge, dining area and kitchen are also located on the ground floor. This gives Service Users the choice of preparing meals in their own rooms as they become more independent or being supported to cook in the main kitchen and socialise in the communal areas. |
Bedrooms on the first floor have larger kitchenette and living areas and are ideal for people nearly ready to move into their own accommodation. There is a large garden and, with Service User input, we are planning to build sensory areas and a mini allotment.
Rhyme House is located near a parade of shops, perfect for life-skills training, and also close to Sittingbourne town centre with its many shops, restaurants and amenities. Service Users will be encouraged to access local colleges and, where possible, secure employment opportunities.
The service is attracting referrals for residential schools and colleges, but is also a good provision for young people with more complex needs leaving home for the first time.
Partnership working with families and all members within a young person’s circle of support is essential and, where required, we will seek specialist input to meet individual requirements.
Victoria, Plymouth, Devon
Details: One vacancy is currently available in this house which is undergoing extensive refurbishment. This includes a new shower and bathrooms, as well as other additions to make this service accessible for those with mobility issues and/or early onset Dementia.
Victoria is a large Victorian terraced property, which provides 24-hour support to vulnerable adults with Learning Disabilities and Mental Health needs. Situated close to the centre of Plymouth, it offers easy access to community facilities, such as bowling, swimming and Swarthmore Adult Education Centre. |

Woodlands House, Gunnislake, Cornwall
Woodlands can currently offer emergency placements and short breaks/respite opportunities as well as permanent places.

Details: Woodlands is a specialist, managed move on service for young adults with moderate/border line Learning Disabilities and other complex emotional issues. Three vacancies are now available due to the success of this service, which has recently moved one young man on to an adult service and added a resettlement flat to accommodate and prepare young people for independent living.
It is located close to local bus and train routes, and the nearby towns and villages contain a variety of eateries, markets and supermarkets. |
