Midsummer House is a three bedded bungalow which is home to children with Learning Disabilities and challenging behaviours. The aim of Midsummer House is to support children to achieve all they can in life and help them prepare for the transition into adulthood. Due to its rural location it offers a quiet, safe and nurturing environment in which the young people can develop in all areas of their life.
Young people can engage in trips to the seaside, cinemas, horse riding, theme parks and an annual summer holiday. Dependant on risk assessments and behaviour the young people can holiday abroad in the summer with recent holidays including Butlins in the UK and Guernsey.

When the young people reach 14 years of age we can offer a semi independence program and through working together with the staff this can then move on to full independence giving the young people the tools they will need for later life.

 

 

Specialist Expertise

 

  • Full 24 hour 1:1 support for all young people, this can also be increased to 2:1 support if this is deemed best practice at initial assessment.
  • Full time education with a personalized educational package specific to individual needs.
  • Access to Speech and language therapy as part of the initial package. All other therapies required are available e.g. Art, music, Occupational therapist.
  • Consistent and continuous care managed by experienced manager and qualified team.

 

About the Property

 

Midsummer House is based in South Lincolnshire very close to the Norfolk border. It is only a short walk from the famous Lincolnshire wash and close to Spalding and Boston. The home is a detached three bedroom bungalow with a large front garden and enclosed rear garden. In the summer months there is a barbecue area and also a trampoline for the young people to enjoy. In house there is a very large games room and all young people have access to there own bedrooms allowing them privacy and dignity. There are 2 bathrooms in house for the young people to use which both have showers and baths available. The bungalow is very spacious to allow the young people the freedom they need but still with staff able to keep suitable supervision at all times. The home has recently undergone refurbishment including 2 new bathrooms, redecorated lounge; this will be completed with installation of a new kitchen.

The aim of Midsummer House is to support young people to achieve to their optimum potential and help them prepare for adulthood. Due to its rural location it offers a quiet, safe and nurturing environment in which the young people can develop in all areas of their life. All staff work with in the guide lines of the “Care Matters” framework and also “Every Child Matters” legislation. We work closely with the individual, families and commissioning teams to achieve the best results for each young person. Education is an important element of the package offered by Midsummer House, staff are able to support within school where necessary to offer the consistent support and boundaries which they need to develop.
