Regard’s aim is to provide the highest possible quality of support to the people who use our services. At Bowermount Rd we support individuals with learning disabilities and or autism. Our enabling, self empowering approach is tailored to a person’s aspirations, ensuring a high level of customer satisfaction.
Bowermount Rd is unique in the model of supported living it can provide. It is a younger person’s service ideal for young adults leaving care or young adults leaving residential college. We have very positive links with local residential and non residential colleges.
Our aim is to support individuals to gain the skills necessary for a move onto independent living, if they so choose. We have recently supported one gentleman to move onto his own flat and other tenants are working towards this within the near future. We have the scope to provide outreach support once tenants have moved, thus maintaining consistency and continuity.
We have recently introduced an independent living skills assessment tool which is in easy read format and outcome driven. Not only does it focus on skills for independence, it also covers topics such as health, relationships, employment socialisation and many more.
Staff support is flexible and structured around individuals’ needs on a daily basis.
All tenants are making fantastic progress and continue to achieve some very positive personal outcomes, in relation to independence, personal achievements and quality of life.
The Property
Bowermount Rd is a large semi-detached property, near Westborough Sports Centre and within walking distance of Maidstone Town Centre.
All nine flats are equipped with en-suite bathrooms and their very own kitchenette area. They are decorated to a high standard and personalised to suit individual taste.
Located on the ground floor there is communal lounge and dining area for tenants who wish to socialize with their peers. There is also a decent sized patio garden at the rear of the property, with its own seating and BBQ area. This is a hub of social activity during the summer months.
Two of the flats are located on the ground floor, suitable for tenants with mobility needs. There is ramped access to the front and rear of the property.
The other seven flatlets are located over three further floors of the property. Asistive technology is installed with some individual devices in places to compliment individual assessed needs.
Within close proximity there are shops, pharmacy, post office, pubs, colleges, church, Health Centre and parks.
Public transport links are very good with buses into the centre of Maidstone running every 10 minutes. Mainline rail links run regularly to London and South East Costal resorts.
All tenants are socially active and current opportunities range from: college, employment, drama, football, bowling, cinema, swimming, gym, shopping and the numerous social and recreational opportunities available within Maidstone.
