To provide support and care as directed by needs led assessment to adults with learning difficulty, mental health needs, physical disabilities and Children and young people less than 18 years of age and their families in their own homes. The agency will work with the Service User and others that are significant in the Service User lives to help design the care and support plans to meet the individual needs.
We believe it is important that every Service User owns their care and support plan and this will be tailored to the individual to ensure inclusion and understanding. We work in a person centred approach and all plans are made to ensure that the focus is on the person, their goals, wishes, dreams and aspirations.
We encourage the individuals and their circle of support to be involved in the recruitment of their staff, looking and matching the qualities and skills that match the individual’s specific needs through the interview process which can include asking questions at the interview panel, meeting with the candidates and also involvement in the review of staff. It is very important that everyone is engaged in this process and that we listen to what people tell us about the staff that work as part of the team.
Developed as part of our person centred approach we also have a QA checkers group, which service users run, and they visit our services and assess the quality of the service provision, telling us what they like, what they want changed and what we can do better. In addition to this we actively promote individuals to join our service user forums, participate in review of our policies, gain confidence through regular key worker meetings which sets out goals and outcomes that the individual would like to achieve and we also run awareness groups for individuals which focuses on how to make a complaint, speaking out and how to recruit your own staff.
We have specialist Person Centred Planning facilitators and Total Communication specialists within the staff team, and ensure that our staff team skills and qualities reflect the social, emotional and health needs of the individual that is supported. The team are trained to work with individuals with challenging behaviour, Aspergers, Epilepsy, complex health needs and Autism. We work with behavioural specialists to ensure that the staff work in that keeps the person safe and happy, whilst delivering care and support in a way that makes sense to the person.
