Cerrig Camu

Cerrig Camu is an established residential care service providing 24 hour support for up to 24 adults. The experienced support staff provide round the clock care, using individually tailored Person Centred Plans to maximise each service users independence. Cerrig Camu provides a range of individual homes situated within the beautiful Snowdonia National Park, overlooking the mountain range known as Cader Idris and stands on the outskirts of the market town of Dolgellau. The service is ideally placed, providing a tranquil environment yet one which is within easy reach to all the local facilities of a medium sized town. The extensive grounds of the accommodation, coupled with its scenic location provide service users with the opportunity to undertake numerous outdoor activities, including; gardening, horse riding and walking. The town is a short drive or an approximate 25 minute walk from the home.

The Property

Cerrig Camu stands in its own extensive private grounds of approximately 11 acres. There are 4 separate buildings, consisting of:

A cosy 2 bedroom cottage with easy access for service users with mobility problems
A spacious 3 bedroom cottage for service users with mild learning disabilities
A large 5 bedroom cottage for service users with moderate learning disabilities
The main house, that is specifically for extensive support for individuals with profound and multiple learning disabilities.

The Service

Each individual has the opportunity to access a full range of daytime activities, both within the service and off site within the local community. The staff at Cerrig Camu have a wealth of knowledge and experience working with adults across the spectrum of Learning Disability and dual diagnosis. The team are trained in low arousal, non violent behaviour intervention techniques and are therefore able to provide progressive support to individuals who may have and may need support with; High Dependency, Complex Needs, Autistic Spectrum Conditions, Outcome focused pathway support and verbal/physical challenging behaviour.

We provide a comprehensive training package in accordance with Care Council for Wales and all staff have either gained or are registered to complete NVQ/QCF level 2 or 3 in social care
The Manager is registered with CSSIW to provide a service to adults with learning disabilities and is supported by a full time Secretary, Deputy Manager and a team of senior support workers

Specialist services for service users, including corporate appointeeship to assist service users with all aspects of their benefits
Specialist transport available to support with access to the community,family home visits, holidays and planned activities
Emotional support/socialisation
Supporting individuals to maintain the safety of their environment
Promotion of group social activities as desired by individuals
Supervision with cleaning, laundry, drinks and snack preparation
Administration of medication, health problems
Menu planning, shopping, cooking, budget planning and finances
Supporting individuals to live with other service users
Activities/inclusion and community links
Personal care, maybe prompting
Promoting support to access advocacy services
