The Uplands House - New Bridge, South Wales

The Uplands House is a registered residential care home for 4 service users with learning disabilities and provides 24 hour care (including waking staff). It is situated above the Village of New Bridge with extensive views of the beautiful Ebbw valley. The current female Service Users have profound and multiple Learning Disabilities and therefore this service would ideally be more suitable for female Service Users with similar needs. Community access is a major part of the homes daily routine, with some of the existing Service Users accessing the local day centre and are fully involved in the running of the home.

Specialist Expertise

Highly trained and experienced staff team providing specialist support with communication and behavioural issues. PECS communication and pictorial cards are used to support service users with their daily support needs which gives them opportunities to be as fully involved in their care package as much as is practical. This service is ideal for those on the autistic spectrum and the staff team have all received extensive training to work with this particular client group. Other services provided include experience of bi-polar, depression, epilepsy, and challenging behaviour.

Fully trained and specialist staff team that is available 24 hours a day (including waking night), vehicles available to access community resources, wet room en suite facilities to accommodate service users with mobility problems, opportunities to have annual holidays with staff support, key worker to work alongside the individual to create person centred support plans and associated risk assessments, team are trained with Active support to ensure that the person is supported to develop to their full potential.

About the Property

Detached property with single occupancy rooms, 2 of which are ground floor with en suite facilities. A further 2 bedrooms on the 1st floor with separate shower and bath facilities. Access to a specialist sensory room and plans to install a sensory garden to extend this facility. Large kitchen which is accessible to service users to have the opportunity to develop domestic skills, comfortable TV lounge and further rooms available on the 1st floor for those that wish to have 1:1 support away from the sometimes busy communal areas. A large lawned garden to the front of the property and a patio area that is private and secure to the rear of the property.
