Current profile of service: The service can offer stability and flexibility for service users in managing their mental health needs. Service users are encouraged to participate in the day to day running of their home as well as their own recovery to independence. The Service Manager has over 20 years’ experience of working with individuals with complex needs and has a well-trained team of staff who support her.

Focus of service: The service provides a bespoke care plan for each individual with a mental health disorder from the time they are referred to us.

Hours provided: The house is staffed 24 hours a day providing a core level of shared support. Individuals are assessed for individual 1:1 support as required.

People and their relatives felt that the atmosphere in the home was open, friendly and welcoming and that the registered manager and staff were approachable. There were systems and processes in place to monitor and evaluate the quality of the service provided.

The home is staffed 24 hours a day with experienced trained personnel. Service users are encouraged to participate in the day to day running of their home as well as their own recovery to independence. There are communal areas and a small well stocked and attractive garden to relax and socialise in and also well maintained bedrooms that can be decorated and furnished to the service users’ preference.

The town has all local amenities within walking distance. Many of our service users enjoy local walks and bicycle rides.Service users access the Leisure centre, swimming pool, cinema, MIND day services, theatres and more extensive shopping facilities.Staff offer support to appointments, home visits, leisure activities as well as voluntary work placements when public transport is not appropriate or available.Being situated very near to the north Norfolk coast, (12 miles from Hunstanton) means that we can take full advantage of all that the seaside resorts, coastal villages and nature reserves have to offer.

Regard provides a bespoke care plan for each individual with a mental health disorder from the time they are referred to us.In line with the policy of Recovery and Social Inclusion, we help service users relearn the skills required for daily living in order for them to move towards increased independence and minimum support.As a result, we enable people to improve the quality of their lives and make positive changes in areas that are important to them, rather than just alleviating their symptoms.

Maureen Johnstone the Service Manager has NVQ 4 management qualifications. With 16 year’s experience within the care sector, working with very challenging clients with complex needs she is able to lead and develop an excellent team and service which specialises in this field. Maureen previously had a keen interest in working as a Welfare Rights /Youth and Community Worker then moved on to a women’s refuge but favoured work in the community and initially started working at a sister service and then promoted to Service Manager.

The established team supporting Maureen have a wealth of experience and knowledge regarding the service as well as within social and health care. A number of staff have completed specialist training in Mental Health, managing challenging behaviour, and support/risk management.
