The service is able to support individuals from the age of 17 as part of a transitional model of support we promote at Regard. In each case we would work closely with all parties to ensure an agreed approach is put in place to help an individual make that transition in to adulthood a positive one.

Specialism: Supported living service for young people with learning disabilities and or autism in transition from residential college, foster care or the family home.

Details of Vacancies: Newly refurbished, ground floor, en-suite room and first floor en-suite rooms plus one room with additional living space available.

Current profile of service: Copperfield House is a large detached house within walking distance of local amenities. The service has been completely refurbished to a very high standard and has six bedrooms plus communal areas. There are two ground floor bedroom with full en-suite bathrooms. On the first floor there are a further three en-suite bedrooms plus a self-contained flat. In addition to a large kitchen the service has a lounge and dining room as well as a secure private garden.

Focus of service: Promoting independence and supporting young people to access further education, employment, social and recreational activities. Person-centred transition plans are developed for each individual to develop their budgeting skills and to become more independent in all areas of their lives.

Hours provided: Staff are available 24 hours a day, including a sleep-in night staff member. This service would suit people moving from residential care or their family home.

Meet The Team
  • 24-hours a day by shared support; including night support
  • 1:1 support for specific identified assessed needs which vary from person to person
  • Full inclusive needs support planning, care needs and risk assessments by a well trained staff team, experienced with working with adults with Learning Disabilities and Mental Health needs.
  • Our aim is to decrease 1:1 support hours as skills are developed and assist with greater independence gained where possible
  • Support is structured to ensure that the individual has the opportunity to access a full range of activities within the community including employment opportunities and access to local colleges where possible.
  • An energetic and enthusiastic, trained staff team.
  • Supporting individuals in accessing appointments with all health care professionals.
  • Outreach support for those able to move on providing continuity of support.

Situated in Ryde on the Isle of Wight, the property is a large house that has 5 en-suite bedrooms and one self-contained flat. There is a kitchen and dining area also. A large communal lounge is also available on the ground floor.

The property is located close to local shops and amenities and has good transport links.

Victoria Jacobs leads the team at Copperfield House on the Isle of Wight. Victoria has worked with Regard since 2011 and has many years experience working with adults with complex needs, challenging behaviours, autism and learning difficulties. Victoria has a level 3 in Health and Social care and is currently working towards her level 5 diploma.

The team, consisting of 1 senior support worker and 7 support workers, at Copperfield have a varying degree of knowledge within health and social care. The staff have completed mandatory training & specialist training in mental health and challenging behaviour. Staff are encouraged to continue this development and grow within their roles
