The service has been designed to offer support and accommodation for adults with Autistic Spectrum conditions, behaviours considered to challenge, physical and mental health support needs and those with significant communication difficulties.

Details of Vacancies: One first floor vacancy in a shared flat with one other male

Type of Service: supported living flats in the busy town of Redruth, Cornwall. Each flat has been refurbished to a high standard and decorated to reflect the individual’s tastes. Within easy walking distance of Redruth with its range of amenities, Govis House is well located to enable the tenants to access and participate fully in their community.

Age Range: adults 18 plus

Current profile of the Service: Govis House provides supported accommodation for those moving from residential care, family home or educational establishments who would benefit from having their own accommodation; whilst being in close proximity to others if they wish.

Hours provided: There is 24 hour staffing, including waking night and sleep in staff, dependent on the identified needs of the tenants

Focus of the service: Govis House supports individuals with Autism, moderate to severe learning disabilities and complex needs, including behaviours considered to challenge and dual diagnosis. The service aims to provide each tenant with the opportunity to maximise their potential and to be valued and contributing members of the local community.

Success Stories

Govis House is a refurbished property, originally a shop with accommodation above. It has been tastefully and sensitively refurbished to provide five flats. The flats are located in the busy town of Redruth, with easy access to community facilities for individuals to meet and socialise.

Developed to provide accommodation and support for adults with a learning disability, challenging behaviours and/or dual diagnosis. Govis House offers:

• Person centred approaches and individualised support

• A planned approach to developing independence skills

• Positive risk management strategies to enable the service users to grow and develop and maximise their potential

Evidenced and practical solution focussed approach, seeking to reduce one to one support and promoting continued independence

Leah Bone is the Service Manager registered with the Care Quality Commission and leads the Domiciliary Care Agency (South West). Leah has a wealth of experience in supported living and outreach services with particular knowledge and expertise in supporting people with complex support needs and behaviours considered to challenge. Ably supported by a team of people from a range of backgrounds and experience, Leah and her team are committed to providing opportunities to each tenant to live a fulfilled and active life, encouraging networks of support so that each person is a valued and contributing member of their community.
