Details of Vacancies: En-suite studio flat style rooms are available on the first floor.

Type of Service: A registered service provided in a large Victorian house set within attractive gardens in a residential area on the outskirts of Torquay. Each room can be decorated to meet individual tastes, choices and sensory needs. The communal areas includes a kitchen, a large dining room and living room and gardens, which can be used for recreational and leisure pursuits as well as for gardening opportunities.

Age Range: Young adults 18 – 45 years

Current Profile of Service: Young adults moving from either residential care or the family home who need a robust service providing structure and strong communication strategies.

Hours Provided: There is 24-hour staffing, including waking night and sleep-in staff.

Focus of Service: Harbour is a service for young adults with Autism, moderate to severe Learning Disabilities and complex needs, including associated diagnosis and challenging behaviours. The service will enable them to achieve their highest level of independence, to make sense of the world around them, to facilitate communication and to move on to live the life they choose. Wherever possible our aim is to reduce the 1:1 bespoke packages of care and support that we provide.

Harbour is a large Victorian house set within attractive gardens in a residential area on the outskirts of Torquay.

The house has been designed to create an appropriate environment. Two rooms are designed as studios each with their own bathroom and kitchen area, three rooms are en suite and the sixth room has exclusive use of a bathroom. Each room can be decorated to meet individual tastes, choices and sensory needs.

Communal areas include kitchen, large dining room, living room and gardens used for recreational,leisure and gardening opportunities.

Our service offers:

  • an individual approach
  • a planned approach to moving on to independence
  • a pathway plan, involving circle of support to plan a smooth and clear transition from residential school, residential college or home
  • proactive and positive risk management which keeps individuals happy and safe
  • an evidenced and practical solution focused approach which enables clear milestones to reducing one-to-one support, enabling people to become more independent.

Manager: Lucy is an experienced manager and has worked in other services for Regard before transferring to Harbour. Lucy has Level 4 NVQ in Care Management. The team supporting her have over 50 years’ experience between them in health and social care and have completed specialist training in autism, challenging behaviour, person centred planning and use of total communication methods.

    All over the country the people who live or work at our supported living and residential services are coming together to take part in ‘Regard’s Big Picnic Fortnight’ and raise funds in support of YoungMinds, which we recently announced as our charity of the year.
