Most of the rooms at Ivers are much larger than average and those within the bungalows have been designed as bedsits. Communal rooms in the main house include a lounge, dining room and activity/games room. Two of the rooms can be combined into one for larger functions.

Service users visit the village of Marnhull, which is within walking distance of the home, to use shops and pubs. They also travel to the larger towns of Shaftesbury, which is around six miles away, and Yeovil, which is 16 miles away. The nearest train stations are at Templecombe and Gillingham, Dorset. Bus services are limited but the home has a number of vehicles.

We will develop an individually designed support package to include assistance in activities to develop and maintain independence. Ivers has a philosophy of person centered support, giving choice, independence, and encouragement enabling the service users to develop and maintain skills to give them the freedom to be as independent as possible, to reach their potential and fulfill their dreams. Supporting new opportunities for achievement with informed choices and managed risks so that there is a continuous path of progress within the community.

Ivers has a significant presence in the community and some service users are involved in vocational work locally, including recycling projects, tending the gardens of the doctor’s surgery and working in charity shops and a garden centre.

Ivers has an established team of over 60 staff. Many have been in post for over 10 years and hold teaching qualifications to include training staff and supporting residents within our popular day activities programme. Staff support residents with on site activities within our farm environment and off site activities in the community. Support staff hold NVQ levels 2 and 3 amongst many specialist certificates such as Buccal.
