Current Profile of Service: Maybank House can accommodate up to six people.

Hours Provided: There is a registered manager at the service and 24-hour support, with one waking and one sleep-in member of staff.

Focus of Service: Maybank house offers the people who live there a person-centred approach, which is tailored to meet the needs of the individual with a high level of family involvement. The service is outcome-focused. This is achieved by listening and responding to what the individuals tells us is important to them, as well as by making sure we work with people to achieve their goals and aspirations in a way that keeps the person safe, but also maintains and develops a life which makes sense to the person.

Maybank House is a detached house with six spacious rooms situated on both the ground and first floors. The garden is a good size with a patio, lawn areas and areas for plants and shrubs.

The service provides opportunities for individuals to live in a registered care environment that can provide and equip them with the skills they need to live the life they choose. The individuals that use our service require 24 hour support in a safe environment which encourages and promotes people to gain confidence in their lives, and promotes decision making and choice through a person centred approach, which is individualised and dependent on the specific needs and communication requirements of each person.

Support for people to maintain a life that makes sense to them through person centred planning and reviews. Support with health appointments and accessing professionals.Encourage decision making, and promote access to local advocacy. Budgeting skills and weekly budget planning. Living skills, including meal preparation, cooking and domestic skills. Assistance with personal care and encouragement to become more independent with self care. Active participation in community events through one to one sessions and planned events with other individuals. Individuals are involved in the recruitment and selection of the staff that support them. Involvement in our quality checkers project. Promote understanding of why a person takes medication and training and assessment for self medication. Road safety awareness and support programmes to enable greater independence in the community (with planned risk management).

Veronica Hassan, is the service manager of Maybank House. She says “I hold NVQ Level 2 in Health and Social Care with almost 8 years experience within the care sector and i am result driven and have developed excellent communication skills. The staff team supporting me have over 60 years of experience between them within social and health care. Most of the staff have completed specialist training in areas such as End of life care for learning disabilities; Pressure area care and Communication skills and are able to apply this knowledge within the service. “

We were delighted to learn that we have been awarded the prestigious Gold Investors In People standard and decided to celebrate by holding a company-wide ‘Gold Tea Party’ in all of our Regard services on 30th September.
