Current Profile of Service: The service is an outcome-focused model, looking to support individuals in developing a more independent lifestyle. Orchard View is an established residential home with excellent road, train and motorway access. The home has large communal areas and large gardens.

Hours Provided: There is 24-hour staffing, including waking night and sleep-in staff.

Focus of Service: Supporting people to live a full and active life and promoting independence. We also aim to provide as many domestic skills as individuals can attain providing the opportunity to develop more social and practical skills. The service specialises in Autism with clear communication policies and packages of care for each individual.

Orchard View is a large detached listed building located within a quiet residential area of Frindsbury, Strood with a large garden.

It has excellent public transport links to the local area including trains and buses to the historical city of Rochester, Maidstone, London and South East Coastal resorts.

On the ground floor there is a large lounge, dining room and kitchen with four bedrooms a shower room and separate toilet.On the first floor there are five bedrooms, two bathrooms and a separate toilet.

24 hours a day shared support; including night support.

Life skills training.

1:1 support to meet individual assessed needs if required.

Full inclusive support planning, care needs and risk assessments.

Promotion of communication for users with autism and or communication needs.

Support is structured to ensure that the individual has the opportunity to access a full range of activities within the community e.g. football, cinema swimming and local clubs and where possible employment opportunities and access to local colleges.

Opportunity for people to move on to supported living or outreach support when ready, to be provided by staff from within Regard.

Promoting self advocacy and support to access advocacy services community learning disability team and health care professionals.

Support with personal care, cleaning,laundry, menu planning, shopping,cooking and travel training to promote independence.

John Henderson is the Service Manager at Orchard View and has been in a registered management role for over 15 years of his 25 years service within the health and social care sector.

The management team comprises of a service manager, deputy and 2 senior staff members.There are also 15 full and part time members of staff with over 50 years combined experience. The home has achieved a ‘Good’ rating from there last 2 CQC inspections, with the last one being undertaken in March 2015. The whole staffing team are highly trained in all mandatory requirements as well as completing specialist courses in: Autism, Epilepsy, Diabetes and Positive Behaviour Strategies.
