Orchard View, our residential service in Strood recently took part in Regard’s ‘Big Picnic Fortnight’ to raise money for YoungMinds.
Our chosen national charity this year is YoungMinds, the UK’s leading charity committed to improving the emotional wellbeing and mental health of children and young adults. Any money raised from our picnics and other events to be held throughout the year will go to further this important work.
Staff, the people we support, family and friends all got involved in the events on the day. There was a football penalty shoot-out and an egg and spoon race as well as a variety of other fun games.
Deputy Manager, Caroline Delaney, was kind enough to volunteer to stand behind the Minion board which had a cut out for her face and allowed people to throw wet sponges at her. Caroline said: “I got plastered with plates of shaving foam.”
As can be seen in the photographs people enjoyed getting messy.
There was a barbeque and lots of different picnic foods for everyone to enjoy, such as sausage rolls, cakes and candy floss.
The people supported at Orchard View got involved in all elements of preparation for the picnic and all had a great time on the day.
The picnic raised a great over £100 for YoungMinds and everyone at the service is thrilled with this outcome after such a great day.
