As part of our continued support for Young Minds, our chosen charity this year, Regard was proud to be able to support a group of young people to complete a community based art project to raise awareness of mental health in young people.
The group of teenagers all aged 16 and 17 from East Sussex had been taking part in the National Citizenship Service and as part of this had to choose a project to engage with the local community.
NCS puts them in touch with causes and they chose Young Minds and created the idea for a community mural to raise awareness.
The group worked with the Town Council in Uckfield, East Sussex and gained permission to paint a large mural on a wall close to the council offices and the local Tesco who also allowed them to raise a collection in the shop front.
As part of the project the teenagers had to raise funds for all the materials and this is where Regard came in with a contribution. They even managed to get an interview on the local radio station Uckfield FM and Regard is now out on the airwaves as a sponsor!
This is just one of many ways that Regard has got involved with YoungMinds this year, raising over £3000 so far for the charity from their ‘Big Picnic Fortnight’ across the company and a further £800 from a sponsored fun run.
