The team at Acorn House, our new supported living service in Chester, recently welcomed many families and social workers to the newly refurbished service by holding an open day event.
At 10am on the day, the doors opened and the first visitors arrived. Service Manager, Angela Swale and her team had worked hard to prepare the house with beautiful furniture and decorations. They had also baked homemade cakes, which were delicious and appreciated by all.
Diane Carole, Regard’s Customer Relationship Manager, who was at the open day said “People to potentially move in, parents, social workers and commissioners all arrived throughout the day and staff proudly showed them around. Many individuals were happily choosing their preferred rooms and spent time with staff getting to know them.
“Everyone enjoyed their visit and cakes and there were more individuals wanting rooms than there were rooms available, so unfortunately some will be disappointed.”
Regional Director for Wales and West, Kay Beacham came along and was happy to see all the staff engaging with visitors and said that the service looked stunning.
Following his successful visit to Acorn House on the open day, Shane has now moved into the service. Within a week of moving in, staff were able to see a positive difference in him and Angela said “he is coming on leaps and bounds”.
Shane said “I love it here, I have got space for all my things and the staff are very good.”
