Terry, who lives at Llwyngwian Fawr, our residential service in Gwynedd has made a lasting impression by helping out in the local community.
A few weeks ago, a member of staff suggested getting involved in helping to clean up Barmouth beach. Terry was keen to get started and happy to get involved. As can be seen in the photos (right), Terry filled up a black sack with all of the litter from the beach, to make it a nicer place for other people to visit.
After the success of this and how much Terry enjoyed taking part, he is now joining the local Cambrian Beach Guardians group, who clean up the local beaches. Their next beach clean is on the 25th March and Terry is very much looking forward to getting involved with this.
Over the past few years, Terry has got involved in various events for Comic Relief and Sport Relief, his independence has grown a lot and he is now involved in a whole variety of activities throughout the week.
Terry also enjoys helping at the farm at the service with the animals including sheep, goats, chickens, ducks and geese. He goes to the gym and swimming on alternate weeks, goes to church on Sundays and watches his local football team most Saturdays.
Karen Hills, Service Manager added “Most of his activities are in the day but he does enjoy going to play pool at the pub once a week and attend music events if they are what he likes, such as live music in a local pub or line dancing events when they come up.”
It is lovely to see Terry being so independent, but it also great to see him doing kind things for other people with his beach cleans and charity events.
