Regional Director - Wales

We seek a Regional Director to be responsible for our Wales Region and to join our national ‘Operations Senior Management Team.’

 

The role will encompass numerous services in both North & South Wales in relation to the provision of Regard’s services across an expanding portfolio of operations involved in care and support in Supported Living, Residential and/or outreach settings for adults with learning disabilities.

 

The role will include becoming the Responsible Individual for Wales through CSSIW and will have ownership on all matters Quality, HR/Personnel, Finance and Sales & Marketing. The successful candidate will have a team of managers reporting to him/her and will report to Regard’s Operations Director.

 

The ideal candidate will have experience in successful operational management and financial performance and will ensure that our service users receive the highest possible standard of care by fully complying with CSSIW requirements. They will have strong interpersonal skills at all levels, have excellent organisational skills, be self-motivated, hardworking, enjoy a challenge and have a work ethic by which others are inspired. Welsh nationals would be preferred as would an ability to speak Welsh.

 

Appropriate registrations (Care Council for Wales, CSSIW etc) are a prerequisite as are the usual skill/ability sets and previous exposure to operations management (including financial review) is necessary for successful appointment to this post. Furthermore, the individual’s ability to fit in with a close knit team which not only works hard but also enjoys providing a service which is second to none is paramount!

Faerdre is a small home for up to 8 service users with learning disabilities.  It is situated in the rural area approximately 2 miles from Llandysul. The Manager is aiming to increase the current number of service users living in Faerdre and therefore, requires additional staff.

Brief description of duties

 

You will work as part of an established team to encourage service users to use their individual skills to achieve a lifestyle which includes making informed decisions and choices, taking responsibility, realizing ambitions and aspirations.  Under management instructions and in partnership with colleagues, you will promote the aims and values of the company.

NVQ2/3, QCF2/3 in Social Care – (although, if at application and interview you can demonstrate favourable skills I will employ staff members who do not have these qualifications). These qualities could be listening skills, patience, empathy and understanding, calmness, etc.  Being a driver and having competent computing skills would also be an advantage.

Initially you will undertake an induction and training and be expected to update your training regularly.  You must have a degree of flexibility, be able to undertake occasional waking nights, be open to new ideas.

Senior Support Worker

Supported living services within Cardiff. Providing 24 hour support to clients with mental health problems and some learning disabilities.

Brief description of duties

 

To support individuals, enabling them to realise their hopes, dreams and aspirations.  To work as part of a team to promote the aims and values of the company.

 

We are supporting service users with a background of mental health problems and/or substance misuse who live in a service with their own tenancy. Senior Support Worker will be responsible for  ensuring the development plan set for each individual is delivered taking into consideration the Welsh Assemblies Fulfilling

You will be expected to support the Service Manager to lead a team and be responsible for maintaining a high standard of care. Senior support workers will be responsible for updating Service User files (support plans/risk assessments etc), manage rotas, liaise with Professionals with respect to regular Reviews and ensure that service users gain access to paid/unpaid work, provide housing related support to secure and maintain a tenancy, offering various levels of personal, emotional and practical support as contracted to do so through various funding streams (private, social services etc) This must be reflected in the team you manage and regular supervision and daily mentoring needs to be implemented.

Hours & Salary

The services will be open 24 hours a day 365 days a year so you must be willing to work morning, afternoon/evening, and sleep in duties. Hourly rate £8.50 per hour basic rate, additional increments dependant on qualifications and for long service.

Job Title

Support Worker

Description of service / Department

 

Beudygwyn Farm is a residential care home, providing 24 hour support. The home is registered under the Care and Social Services Inspectorate for Wales and can accommodate 14 service users of either gender. 

 

The home is registered for 13 adults aged 18-64 who present with mild to moderate learning disabilities, and/ or physical disabilities. The home can also accommodate I older adult over 64 who may present with mild to moderate learning disabilities, and/ or physical disabilities. Some of our residents might have additional mental health problems and associated challenging behaviour.

 

The home does not provide nursing care, however, if needed such input would be provided by primary care services.

Brief description of duties

 

Service users will require honest, reliable staff who will put their needs and wishes first and foremost.

 

The potential candidate will need to be trustworthy, flexible and willing/able to build positive professional relationships with service users.

 

Supporting service users in day to day activities, daily living skills and promoting /enabling engagement both on site and within the community. Activities may include housekeeping chores; laundry; horse riding; swimming; attending religious services; use of facilities at leisure centres; grocery shopping; clothes/ furniture shopping; IT use; gardening; cookery; walks; drives; café/pub/club/disco visits; escort on home visits; service user family occasions eg wedding/christening etc; annual holidays; parties; functions; open days and any other activities of interest to the service user/s that are appropriate and have been duly risk assessed in accordance with the individual’s care plan.
Some service users may require support with some/all aspects of personal care.

 

We also have animals and the service users will need support to feed, care and muck out the animals.

Hours & Salary

2 x 30 hours posts.

Qualifications / skills/ qualities required

 

Essential –

  1. Willingness to train and achieve NVQ attainments as per legislation requirements
  2. Willingness to take part in a wide range of activities with service users as detailed within individual care plans
  3. Flexibility to work irregular hours e.g. early mornings, evenings, weekends and nights (including sleep-ins) to include attendance at meetings, case reviews etc as per service requirements.
  4. Ability to work on own initiative
  5. Ability to work as part of a team
  6. Ability to plan and organise own work
  7. Ability to observe and record information

Desirable –

  1. Minimum of 6 months or more in a similar role or environment
  2. NVQ2 in Social Care
  3. Awareness and/or experience of formal non-verbal communication methods
  4. Full driving licence and ability to escort service users to and from community/wider based activities
