Barra House is an Autism Specific Service. The building has been designed and constructed in line with principles which underpin such provision for younger adults on the Autistic Spectrum. The service is a small two bed model with ensuite rooms and plenty of communal space.
We offer full needs and risk assessments completed by trained and experienced staff in liaison with the individual and anyone else they wish to be involved such as family, friend, or advocate. We provide person-centred support plans which include details of how we assist individuals to maintain their independence.
Support to individuals with a range of activities including: budget planning and finances, meal planning, shopping and household tasks, establishing community links and promoting self-advocacy and support in accessing health services.
Jake Allen is the service manager at Barra, He has over 7 years of experience working in the sector, Jake holds NVQ level 3 in health and social care, Level 3 Award in leadership and management working todays his level 5 in management.
Jake has also attended specialist training courses around, Autism, Managing behaviours that may challenge, PEACE interview training, effective communication, essential conversations for honest outcomes, managing people and bereavement.
The Team supporting Jake have over 25 years experience between them within the health and social care sector. A number have completed specialist training in Autism, managing behaviours that challenge, epilepsy, person centred approach, medication administration, Makaton and effective communication and are all able to apply this knowledge within the service.
