Current profile: Highbury House is a large, detached property which was converted from a previous residential dwelling. A purpose-built extension was later completed, comprising a new bedroom to accommodate service users with physical disabilities located in Wem.

Focus of the service: Highbury House supports individuals with Autism, moderate to severe learning disabilities and complex needs. The service aims to provide each person with the opportunity to maximise their potential and to be valued and contributing members of the local community.

Highbury House is a large, detached property which was converted from a previous residential dwelling. A purpose-built extension was later completed, comprising a new bedroom to accommodate service users with physical disabilities.

Jake Allen is the service manager at Highbury, He has over 7 years of experience working in the sector, Jake holds NVQ level 3 in health and social care, Level 3 Award in leadership and management working todays his level 5 in management.

Jake has also attended specialist training courses around, Autism, Managing behaviours that may challenge, PEACE interview training, effective communication, essential conversations for honest outcomes, managing people and bereavement.

The Team supporting Jake have over 25 years experience between them within the health and social care sector. A number have completed specialist training in Autism, managing behaviours that challenge, epilepsy, person centred approach, medication administration, Makaton and effective communication and are all able to apply this knowledge within the service.

We offer full needs and risk assessments completed by trained and experienced staff in liaison with the individual and anyone else they wish to be involved such as family, friend, or advocate. We provide person-centred support plans which include details of how we assist individuals to maintain their independence.

Support to individuals with a range of activities including: budget planning and finances, meal planning, shopping and household tasks, establishing community links and promoting self-advocacy and support in accessing health services.

One Year On – Regard’s Shrewsbury Locality

It has now been one year since The Regard Group acquired Adelphi Care Services in Shrewsbury.

This week, people came together at our Shrewsbury office from our Merrington Grange, Highbury House and Fernlea services for an afternoon tea party.

Adelphi Care Services is to become part of The Regard Group

Shropshire care group Adelphi Care Services, which provides services to adults with learning disabilities, autism and challenging behaviour, is to become part of The Regard Group. Nine specialist residential and supported living services will become part of Regard, which was formed in 1994, and now has a staff of over 2,200 operating at 150 sites around the country. The organisation currently supports more than 1,100 people, helping them to live their lives to the full and as independently as possible.
