Specialism: The service supports adults with Learning Difficulties and/or Mental Health Needs, Asperger’s or Autism who would benefit from living in their own space with a bespoke care package to suit their needs, plus background support for more independent individuals. We are experienced in managing complex and challenging behaviours and provide a strong staff team for consistency and development of quality relationships.

Details of Vacancies: There is currently only one vacancy on the ground floor sharing a lovely wet room.

Type of service: Supported Living

Age range: 17+

Current Profile of Service: Care packages are developed on an individual basis with a base level of shared support.

Hours Provided: There is 24-hour background staffing, including shared waking nights. Additional hours are based on assessed needs.

Focus of Service: We provide individuals with appropriate support for their individual needs. We are outcome focused and encourage the development of life skills. We also work with our service users to integrate them with-in the wider community and liaise with family members regarding ongoing care and activities.

Success Stories

Acorn House is an attractive and spacious detached property in a quiet residential setting and has a large enclosed garden. There is a good sized, modern kitchen and diner with a separate attractive lounge for communal use. Available rooms include two en-suite bedrooms and two first floor rooms with their own toilets and a shared shower room.

Outside there are large grounds, including a seating area and a patio.

Acorn House is in Blacon, just a couple of miles North West of Chester city centre. There are shops and NHS services all within walking distance, plus good public transport links. It is close to the Flintshire and Wirral borders and sits within Cheshire West and Chester local area.

We offer full needs and risk assessments completed by trained and experienced staff in liaison with the individual and anyone else they wish to be involved such as family, friend, or advocate. We provide person-centred support plans which include details of how we assist individuals to maintain their independence.

Support to tenants with a range of activities including: Budget planning and finances, meal planning, shopping and household tasks, establishing community links and promoting self-advocacy and support in accessing health services.

Angie Swale, the service manager has an NVQ Level 4 Management qualification and is working towards a level 5 Diploma and is a CQC registered manager.

Angela has over 15 years’ experience within the care sector, working with individuals with varying needs. She is able to lead and develop an excellent team and service.

The team at Acorn House, our new supported living service in Chester, recently welcomed many families and social workers to the newly refurbished service by holding an open day event.
