Arcadian Gardens

The service is able to support individuals from the age of 17 as part of a transitional model of support we promote at Regard. In each case we would work closely with all parties to ensure an agreed approach is put in place to helpan individual make that transition in to adulthood a positive one.

Current Profile of service: Arcadian Gardens has five single rooms with shared communal space. It is a 24-hour supported living service. This service would be suitable for anyone moving from residential care or their family home who needs a transition before moving in to more independent living environments. We are proud of the people who have achieved this goal and have numerous success stories.

Focus of Service: Supporting people to live a full and active life, to achieve greater independence and ideally supporting individuals to move to their own accommodation with outreach support. To provide continuity of support, we are able to offer this from the same staff team.

Hours Provided: The service has a sleep-in night member of staff and background staff during the day. Individuals are assessed for 1:1 hours.

Meet the team

Situated in Wood Green,North London, are two semi-detached houses situated next to each other. One has five and the other has four 4 single bedrooms, both arranged over 2 floors. The properties each have a garden, a shared kitchen and lounge. They also have the added benefit of being located close to local shops, amenities and good transport links. Individuals will hold their own tenancy with the Landlord.

We adopt a whole person approach by working with the service user to take all areas of their life, that are important to them, into consideration. The service user can adopt a self management approach to managing their lives as they make plans in their own language and in their own words. We Offer: Outreach support for those able to move on providing continuity of support.

Full inclusive needs support planning, care needs and risk assessments by a well trained staff team, experienced with working with adults with Learning Disabilities and Mental Health needs. Our aim to decrease 1:1 support hours as skills are further developed and greater independence gained where possible. Support is structured to ensure that the individual has the opportunity to access a full range of activities within the community e.g. football, cinema swimming and local clubs and where possible employment opportunities and access to local colleges.

Praveena Liyanage is the manager at Arcadian Gardens, she has worked at the service since 2012. Praveena has been managing Arcadian Gardens since 2017 and the team collectively have over forty years worth of care experience. Praveena said ” I started my career as a banker and have a master’s degree in finance. As a post-graduate student, I started to volunteer at a supported living service and I developed a passion in making a difference in the lives of people I have supported. Even after completing my degree I never looked back and continue to provide the best care for all my clients. Currently I am in the process of obtaining QCF level 5 - leadership in Social Care qualification. I have nearly eight years experience of supporting/managing supported living services. We have many success stories and we are passionate about enabling our clients to live their lives as independently as possible, while they truly enjoy living at Arcadian Gardens. We make sure to have a proactive approach when supporting our clients with challenging behaviours. Our team is dedicated to providing the best quality, value and service to meet our clients complex needs.
