Current Profile of service: Arcadian Gardens has been extensively refurbished and now has four single ensuite rooms with shared communal space. It is a 24-hour supported living service. This service would be suitable for anyone moving from residential care or their family home who needs a transition before moving in to more independent living environments. We are proud of the people who have achieved this goal and have numerous success stories.

Focus of Service: Supporting people to live a full and active life, to achieve greater independence and ideally supporting individuals to move to their own accommodation with outreach support. To provide continuity of support, we are able to offer this from the same staff team.

Situated in Wood Green, North London, the service has four en-suite bedrooms, arranged over 2 floors. The property has a garden, a shared kitchen and lounge and also has the added benefit of being located close to local shops, amenities and good transport links. Individuals will hold their own tenancy with the Landlord.

We adopt a whole person approach by working with the individual in all areas of their life ensuring what is important to them is taken into consideration. They can adopt a self management approach to managing their lives as they make plans in their own language and in their own words.

We offer full inclusive needs support planning, care needs and risk assessments by a well trained staff team, experienced with working with adults with Learning Disabilities and Mental Health needs. Our aim is to decrease 1:1 support hours as skills are further developed and greater independence gained where possible. Support is structured to ensure that the individual has the opportunity to access a full range of activities within the community e.g. football, cinema swimming and local clubs and where possible employment opportunities and access to local colleges.

Outreach support for those able to move on providing continuity of support.

Praveena Liyanage is the manager at Arcadian Gardens, she has worked at the service since 2012.

Praveena has been managing Arcadian Gardens since last year and the team collectively have over forty years’ worth of care experience.The Team are specialised in supporting individuals with Learning disabilities, Asperger’s, Autism , Down’s Syndrome and challenging behaviour.

Praveena said “I started my career as a banker and have a master’s degree in finance. As a post-graduate student, I started to volunteer at a supported living service and I developed a passion in making a difference in the lives of the people I have supported.

Even after completing my degree I never looked back and continue to provide the best possible care for all my clients. Currently I am in the process of obtaining QCF level 5- leadership in Social care qualification. I have nearly eight years of experience in supporting/managing supported living services.

We have many success stories and we are passionate about enabling our clients to live their lives as independent as possible while they truly enjoy living at Arcadian Gardens.We make sure to have a proactive approach when supporting our clients with challenging behaviour.
