Age range: 40 plus.

Current Profile of Service: Carew Road can accommodate five people on three floors with shared communal space. It is a 24-hour supported living service; individuals hold tenancy with Reside Housing.

Hours provided: The service provides 24-hour background core support, including a waking night member of staff with background staff during the day. Individuals are assessed for 1:1 hours.

Focus of Service: The service has experience of working with adults who have high levels of vulnerability, supporting and enabling them to become more independent in their every day life. The service is outcome focused supporting individuals with positive risk taking to achieve their goals in a way that is meaningful to them and in achievable milestones.

Success Stories

The property is a 5 bedded semi detached property in Thornton Heath, Croydon. The property has a conservatory that overlooks the garden. The house is set over 3 floors compromising of bathroom, shower room, communal lounge and kitchen/dining area. All rooms are decorated to individual choices. The service is close to local amenities with transport links into central Croydon.

This service specialises in supporting people who have previously lived in a residential setting and require support to make choices and decisions in their lives. The team work with the person to enable them to make sure that the decisions they make are self determining and evidence a smooth transition from residential to supported living, positively enabling and encouraging them to have confidence in making choices and enhance and further their daily living skills. Individuals regularly attend day services, college and participate in the local community. Planning and reviews are person centred. Individuals are supported to build confidence and encouraged to make decisions.Budgeting skills and weekly planning daily living skills, including meal preparation, cooking and domestic skills. Assistance with personal care and encouragement to becoming more independent with self care choice and support to attend college/events/activities. Awareness of health promotion and support to access professionals. Road safety awareness and support programmes to enable greater independence in the community (with planned risk management). Support to participate in weekly health and safety, fire and first aid checks, as well as nightly security checks and keeping safe awareness.

Ernestine Dadey is the team leader at Carew Road. She has over 8 years’ experience in the care sector. The team of 10 supporting her have over 40 years of experience between them within social and health care. Staff have completed specialist training in autism, challenging behaviour, mental health and learning disabilities.
