Specialism: Combe House caters for adults with learning disabilities, autism, mental health and epilepsy. Currently this is an all male service.

Age Range: 18 - 45 years

Current Profile of Service: Combe House is a very busy and vibrant home. There is a communal lounge and dining room and the large and accessible kitchen as well as a conservatory in which service users relax with atmospheric lighting whilst listening to music. There is a large garden where service users play skittles, archery, and football with an activity cabin, which is used for playing Nintendo, X-Box games, it is also a place where people can use sensory equipment. The cabin is another place for people to watch television, if any individuals want to sit quietly away from others.

Hours Provided: The service has staff on site throughout the day and a waking night member of staff. Individuals are assessed for 1:1 hours as required.

Focus of Service: We provide a tailored service to each individual based on their assessed needs and care plan. The home is very structured with various formats of communication and pictorial systems in place. The ultimate goal is to maintain and increase levels of independence and essential lifestyle skills. The staff team use applied behavior analysis along with proactive strategies to help each service user manage day to day situations and to achieve their set goals.

Success Stories

Combe House is situated in a quiet residential area in Woking, Surrey. It is a very busy, vibrant home, supporting up to seven residents. The service is conveniently located for access to Woking’s shops and resources, many of which are within walking distance of the home.

It has two vehicles for transport and there are also good local bus services. The train station in Woking provides services to London Waterloo, Guildford and the south coast.

Each person we support has an individual activity plan tailored around their likes and dislikes to ensure that they participate in meaningful activities, both within the home and in the community. Staff can also look into any other activities that someone wants to take part in that are not currently on offer and will look to build up skills by accessing educational and employment opportunities where possible.

Service users enjoy going to the Ambassador Theatre, especially for pantomimes at Christmas and other activities include bowling, swimming, playing pool and going to the cinema.

The service manager, Anna has completed her NVQ 3 and will be working towards NVQ 5 Health and Social Care with 30 years’ experience in the Care Sector as a Care Worker and Manager.

Anna has managed several Domiciliary Care companies with staff numbers ranging from 10 to 60. Starting as a support worker part time progressing to management and starting up new care companies starting from 0 hours to over 1000 per week. Managing Beech Trees is a Dream Role it’s a perfect home from home environment and it’s a great honour to be part of the Team.

Anna has worked for Social Services previously so understands both sides of the care responsibilities especially the aspect of vulnerability and Safeguarding and placements. Over the years in Health and Social care Anna has attended and completed many courses which have helped her understanding and progression within the industry.

Andrew has been a service user at Combe House for a number of years now and has also been to attend Artventure for several years.
