Age Range: 20 to 50 years

Current Profile of Service: The ground floor includes a communal lounge, dining room and kitchen, which is accessible to service users who are supported on a one-to-one basis by staff to promote independence. All bedrooms have an en suite bath, shower or wet room. A lift provides full access for people with mobility needs. The large garden includes a sensory/activity room, a trampoline and there is also a patio with seating area and a vegetable patch.

Hours Provided: The service has staff available throughout the day with two waking night members of staff.

Focus of Service: Our aim is to support individuals to achieve their goals, participate in meaningful activities and become more self-sufficient, building on their skills.

The ground floor includes a communal lounge, dining room and kitchen, which is accessible to service users who are supported on a one-to-one basis by staff to promote independence.

There are four bedrooms on the ground floor and six on the first floor, while the second floor has a self-contained flat for someone who is more independent and progressing towards supported living. A lift provides full access for people with mobility needs and goes to the second floor.

Fleetwood House is conveniently located for access to Worthing, Chichester, Bognor Regis, Selsey and Brighton.

Each service user has an individual activity plan tailored around their likes and dislikes to ensure that they participate in meaningful activities inside and outside the home. In-house activities include arts and crafts, music therapy, sensory sessions, music sessions, looking after the vegetable patch in the garden, taking part in a recycling programme.

We can also explore options if there is an activity that an individual wants to take part in the community such as a college course for life skills or horticulture. Outdoor pursuits activities such as horse riding are also a popular activity along side visiting the theatre, pub and cinema.

Michal Bratek the service manager at Fleetwood House has 8 years’ experience working with Adults with Learning Disabilities, Complex Needs and Behaviour which challenges. As a Proact SCIP trainer Michal has developed clear communication and observation skills. He has an effective working relationship with staff, residents, families, professionals and other key people. Michal has an NVQ level 4 in Health and Social Care.

The team of seven including Michal at Fleetwood House have more than 40 years’ experience and are committed to assist service users in all aspects of their daily lives and to gain independence. This has resulted in a continuality of care which benefits those using the service. Between them they bring together skills and knowledge acquired through many years spent working within the care sector. All staff are trained to a high standard in areas including: Autism, Epilepsy, First Aid, Challenging Behaviour and Diplomas in Health and Social care.

Fleetwood House receive gold award for healthy eating

Scoring top marks in a Food Hygiene inspection in 2017, has reinforced the enthusiasm for healthy eating shared by the people who live at Fleetwood House in Littlehampton, and resulted in the service winning a gold award in West Sussex Council’s healthy eating campaign.
