Current profile of service: Thames House is a large detached house within walking distance of local amenities. The service has been completely refurbished to a very high standard and has six bedrooms plus communal areas. There are two bedrooms on the ground floor both with en-suite bathrooms. The first floor has a further 4 bedrooms, which are all en-suite. In addition there is a large kitchen with a separate utility area, a big open plan lounge, separate dining area and a secure private garden with an annexe which could be used as an activities centre.

Focus of service: Promoting independence and supporting people to access further education, employment, social and recreational activities. Person-centred transition plans are developed for each individual to develop their budgeting skills and to become more independent in all areas of their lives.

Hours provided: Staff are available 24 hours a day, including a sleep in night staff member. This service would suit people moving from residential care or their family home.

Situated in Burnham, Slough, the property is a large detached house that has 6 en-suite bathrooms. The property has excellent communal areas which have been finished to a high standard.

The property is located close to local shops and amenities in Burnham with good transport links.

Individuals will hold their own tenancy with the landlord and the rent would typically be claimed through housing benefit.

We Offer:

  • 24-hours a day by shared support; including night support
  • 1:1 support for specific identified assessed needs which vary from person to person
  • Full inclusive needs support planning, care needs and risk assessments by a well trained staff team, experienced with working with adults with Learning Disabilities and Mental Health needs.
  • Our aim is to decrease 1:1 support hours as skills are further developed and increase independence where possible
  • Support is structured to ensure that the individual has the opportunity to access a full range of activities within the community including employment opportunities and access to local colleges where possible.
  • An energetic and enthusiastic trained staff team.
  • Supporting individuals in accessing appointments with all health care professionals.
  • Outreach support for those able to move on providing continuity of support.

Keith Mtungwazi is the manager at Thames House. The team at Thames House has a vast amount of experience of working with adult in the social care sector; autism, learning disabilities, epilepsy, behaviour that challenge are just some of the area that we have the expertise in. We are able to support services user through a transition period in their lives when moving into support living. Combined experience of team currently is 72 years and as new staff join the team that combined experience will grow enabling us to be able to offer even greater knowledge and expertise in many more areas.

Kenny from Thames House thrives at his volunteering work projects

Kenny has been volunteering at Wrexham hospital every Tuesday and Friday for almost three years. His tasks include tidying the hospital bookshop, delivering in-house magazines to various locations around the hospital, and he helps to maintain the gardens.
