Alin, who works at Highbury House, our residential service in Wem was recently nominated for ‘Apprentice of the Year’ at the SBC Training’s apprenticeship awards.

When Alin first moved to England two years ago, he spoke little English and has done tremendously well at developing his English skills over the last few years.

Alin had not previously worked in adult social care before starting his job at Highbury House, and now has been shortlisted for a Health and Social Care apprenticeship award.

Highbury House Deputy Manager, Jake Allen said “Alin has been nominated for the work completed towards his qualification which just shows that hard work pays off! Wem Services and the Regard Group are lucky to have you Alin.”

Neil Lewis, Deputy Manager at Roseville, a neighbouring Regard service said “I was Alin’s deputy manager for around two years while working at Highbury house. Alin has always been a hardworking and focused member of staff. He is one of the staff that you could always rely on and you knew the work would be completed to a good standard when he was on shift. He first arrived at Highbury speaking little English and with hard work and commitment has become a great support worker and completed his NVQ level 2 in Health and Social care. Well done Alin!”

The team from Wem Services are extremely proud of the work completed by Alin. They were all delighted to accompany him to the awards ceremony recently.
