This week, our Caeronnen and Garthowen services joined together to host an afternoon tea event.

Across Regard, a number of services have been taking part in ‘Regard’s Afternoon Tea Week 2018’. Katie Owen, who is the manager of both services utilised the opportunity to bring everyone together.

The afternoon included a wide range of different activities, including a fun game of throwing wet sponges at the staff. It was only 10p per sponge, so everyone enjoyed getting involved.

There was also a delicious buffet for everyone to tuck into, which included delicious cakes, scones, tea and coffee and more.

It wouldn’t be a Regard event without a game of guess how many sweets are in the jar too.

There was also music, so that everyone could dance if they wanted to.

The afternoon was a great success and raised £20 for Shelter Cymru.

Andrew Cooper, Fundraising Officer for Shelter said “Shelter Cymru are delighted to have been chosen by The Regard Group as their charity of the year. In Wales, somebody becomes homeless every 20 minutes so it is vital that we work with organisations such as The Regard Group to raise as much money as possible to support those faced with losing their homes. We won’t stop until everyone in Wales has a safe and secure home.”

Katie added “It was lovely to see everyone enjoying and raising money for such a worthy cause. A big thank you to Senior Support Worker Sian Wain for organising the day and ensuring everything ran smoothly, and thank you to everyone from Garthowen who came and helped raise money”.

Everyone is now looking forward to more joint events throughout the coming year.
