Last week, our Cloverdale House residential service in Hove held a pink coffee morning party to raise money for breast cancer awareness.
Ivana Balazova, Senior Support Worker at the service organised the whole event, she said “My inspiration for supporting wear it pink is my passion for research. It is absolutely key to finding cures for all the different types of breast cancer and saving women from dying unnecessarily. It’s also about raising awareness and encouraging women to check themselves regularly and for it to become part of their normal routine.
As I’m working as a senior support worker, I love to support the people who live here and also staff members as we have a higher ratio of female staff at Cloverdale. That’s why I came with idea to organise the wear it pink coffee morning.”
Other members of staff enjoyed getting involved and supporting Ivana and the cause. Some of them helped to bake cakes and Service Manager Trevor even dyed his hair pink for the day!
Family and friends of the people who live at Cloverdale were invited along, as well as some friends from neighbouring Regard services.
Ivana said “We had couple of visitors who enjoyed nice cakes and a cup of tea or coffee, and they donated some money to research box. All together we raised over £85! I also want to say big thank you to everyone who participated in organising and supporting us so we could help cancer research.”
