Last weekend, Uplands House opened their doors as part of National Care Home Open Day.
Across Regard, 20 services will be participating in this year’s Care Home Open Day, with the theme of ‘Linking Communities.’
Service Manager, Ann Peebles, arranged the event and invited families and friends of the people supported by the service, to join for the afternoon. Ann also invited local people from around the Newbridge area to make it more of a community event.
There was face painting on the day, which was a huge hit with everyone who got involved, and some fun, creative faces can be seen in the photographs.
Senior Support Worker, Christina said, “Everyone who attended said how much they enjoyed the day, and that they will all be returning for the annual summer Fun Day!”
Members from the local Church visited too, along with family and friends - reflecting the ‘community-based’ theme of the event.
Ann said, “Christina did a lovely job collecting items from everyone for the ‘Bric a Brac’ stall. As well as this, there were also delicious homemade cakes for sale. These two stalls raised a fantastic total of £40 for Regard’s chosen charity this year, Shelter.”
Richard, who is supported by the service said “it was such a lovely day” and that he was very pleased his sisters could join in the fun.
Ann, Christina and the rest of the team at Uplands House are really looking forward to their next event later in the summer.
