Staff around The Regard Group have been celebrating achieving ‘Gold’ with golden chocolate and more than 30 winning tickets for ‘golden moments’.
Everyone was thanked for their contribution towards retaining Investors in People ‘Gold’ accreditation, and for their dedication, hard work and commitment, by receiving a special golden envelope containing Terry’s ‘Gold’ chocolates. Golden tickets hidden within the envelopes have been found by some lucky staff members - who have won a ‘golden experience’ day out.
The ‘Gold’ award was based on the results of online staff surveys, interviews with randomly selected staff, and visits to many of our services by inspectors. Less than 1% of Social Care companies in the UK hold ‘Gold’ accreditation, and of the companies who are reassessed for ‘Gold’ - only 46% succeed in retaining it.
Our independent assessor said: “At Regard, differing views are valued and ideas for continuous improvement are not only welcome, but expected. Challenging and questioning is seen as essential to secure the best outcomes for the people you support. People are encouraged to use their initiative in their role. It is this aspect that makes their work highly enjoyable, interesting and rewarding.”
“Regard respects and values expertise and experience at every level of the organisation and trusts people to do the right thing. This sentiment was voiced by the vast majority of interviewees.”
She continued: “There is excellent evidence of career progression, based on career paths, encouragement and many examples, which are communicated to staff.”

• creating career pathways, allowing staff to grow and develop
• focusing on staff’s health and well-being, enabling them to fulfil their potential
Nila, a support worker at Bosley House said: “The most empowering thing for me is seeing individuals work towards, and achieve their goals - it’s the most inspiring thing ever. Each day brings a new challenge for me, and every day is different, and amazing! - That’s what makes me want to come to work.“
Staff are still in the process of discovering whether they have won a gold ticket, and for those who do find one - we look forward to hearing about their golden experiences!
