The people we support at Cerrig Camu Outcomes With Learning (OWL) have been getting involved in a variety of different activities at the day service.
Glyn has written and designed pictures for four poems about his fondest memories of the four seasons (Autumn, Spring, Summer and Winter). Glyn completed the poems with support from staff and family and designed visuals for the four poems on the computer.
Glyn added images and decorations of his choice to accompany the text and to complete the masterpieces. Activities Coordinator Darren Andrews said “The finished pieces are now on display at the OWL project for everyone to see. A great achievement and four excellent pieces of work. Well done Glyn!”
Gary, who attends the service has recently started RDA horse riding sessions within the local community. Gary expressed an interest in horses and that he would like to learn how to ride one, so with staff support he went to visit the local RDA riding group to have a look around and meet volunteers and instructors.
Gary enjoyed his time and started to visit RDA once a week to complete stable management, as there were no available riding slots at the time. Gary has since started riding once a week and his confidence has gone from strength to strength. Gary completes his sessions independently with a qualified instructor.
Lastly, several of the people supported by Cerrig Camu have made a collaborative music CD to raise money for charity. With help from a music therapist they created vocals and pieces of music using various musical instruments. The people involved then gathered sponsors for the charity UNICEF. All sponsors received a copy of the music CD as a thank you for their kind donations. Everyone who got involved enjoyed creating the CD and interacted well with others during recording sessions.
This is just a selection of the exciting things going on at Cerrig Camu OWL at the moment, and the team are constantly encouraging everyone to get involved.
