Rosebank Lodge, our residential service in Mitcham, held a purple day event last week in aid of Epilepsy action, raising a total of £81.
Preparation for the event involved appointing two staff to lead the process who discussed their plans with some of the individuals who live at the service, allowing everyone to be involved if they wanted to.
James, service manager at Rosebank Lodge said “we also had a discussion with relatives who had come for our quarterly meeting and they shared some ideas including how to raise some funds and bringing along some family friends”.
Some of the people we support were involved in shopping for what was needed for the event and the decorating was fun for everyone involved. Two individuals took part in the baking, supported mainly by their support worker Gin, who worked exceptionally positively for the event.
Reflecting on the success of the day, James said “the service received some very positive feedback from the relatives and some of the friends who had attended and they wondered if this will be an annual event”.
