The staff team and people who live at Sail Close, recently raised a generous £91.50 for the Samaritans – a charity who give free counselling advice and support to people in need.
Nearby services Oaklands, Mill House, The Stables, outreach clients, friends, and family joined in a fun cake sale in order to raise the money.
A range of delicious cakes were made by staff, individuals, and family members of staff from Sail Close. The Oaklands staff team also made cakes and bought them along. Included were some Victoria Sandwiches, a Chocolate smarties cake, Smarties cookies, and cupcakes in many flavours including strawberry, carrot, chocolate fudge and lemon. There were some lovely, fresh flapjacks, and a chocolate marble cake.
Laura, Senior support worker said, “My sister is a professional cake maker - she made us a four-layer salted caramel cake, covered in chocolate sweets, which was used for a competition for people to win. Everyone had to guess the amount of sweets that were on the cake, and make a donation in order to play. The winner was a Sail Close staff member, who then shared the cake with everyone!”
“The day was absolutely brilliant, everyone enjoyed the variety of cakes and were over the moon with how much money was raised for The Samaritans.”
