Starboard House, our residential care service in Southampton, hosted their summer picnic last week as part of Regard’s ‘Big Picnic Fortnight’ event to help raise money and awareness for our voted charity of the year YoungMinds.
The team were all excited and came together on the day to prepare the food and supported individuals to make and put up the decorations around the house and the lovely garden which earlier in the year won the prize for ‘Best Garden’ in our ‘Regard in Bloom’ competition.
The scene was set and they were ready to go as special guests (friends and family) started to arrive and join them during their picnic. They even had a few staff members from the Kingston office, Lauren Curtis, Jona Kastrati and Niclole Kadoo joining them.
Jona said: ‘It was nice to get out of the office for the day and join Starboard House for their picnic event. We all had such a great time and it was nice to see what goes on in a service and how people are supported as it puts things into perspective about what we really do as a company. I hope to get out and visit more services in the future’.
The day was full of activities which included raffles, face painting and a lot of cakes! They managed to raise a total of £69 which has contributed to our total of £3,000 raised so far from all the picnics held across Regard.
Service manager, Michelle, said they are now looking forward to holding more events throughout the year to help raise money for YoungMinds.
YoungMinds is a charity committed to improving the emotional wellbeing and mental health of children and young adults.
